The obverse: in the centre – the emblem of the Bank of Russia [the two-headed eagle with wings down, under it – the semicircular inscription „БАНК РОССИИ” (BANK OF RUSSIA)] framed by a circle of dots and inscriptions along the rim – on top: „ДВА РУБЛЯ” (TWO RUBLES), below: to the left – indications of the precious metal and its fineness, in the centre – the year of issue „2012 г.” (2012), to the right – the fine metal content and the mint trade mark.
The reverse: in the centre of the disc on the mirror field – the portrait of A.I. Vasilyev by V.L. Borovikovsky framed below by two laurel branches with the emblem of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation in the centre, above along the rim – the inscription and dates: „А.И. ВАСИЛЬЕВ 1742-1807” (A.I. VASILYEV 1742-1807).
